Way to go on your running journey! I've tried and tried, but it just won't stick. I do much better at keeping fitness motivation with plyometrics. I don't eat pre-workout, because I workout at 6am and there's no time to eat before that, but if I don't get my post-workout meal, I crash for sure and the rest of my day sucks. It's usually Shakeology post-workout, but if I'm running late and can't make that, I do a banana and Greek Yogurt. Sometimes I'll supplement with a bagel if I need the extra carbs, but that's only out of necessity for extra morning fuel. Happy running!
